Morning Detox and Healing Smoothie

A good friend of mine and follower on Face Book is a natural doctor.  He has a wonderful smoothie recipe that he has used for 20 years since he had cancer.  He told me about this recipe and I tried it and it is quite delicious.  I hope you like this too.

The Morning Drink Recipe
Fifteen minutes before you make this drink, have at least 12 to 16 ounces of water (distilled is best) to start the cleansing process of this drink.
Ingredients: (make fresh every day and vary the amounts to suit your taste and appetite)
-8 ounces (plus or minus) of pure water (distilled is best) and 8 ounces of organic juice
(apple, grape, etc.)
-1 banana.
-Pinch of
cayenne pepper more or less to taste (a natural healing herb).
-A chunk of
ginger; thumb size (a natural healing herb).
-Fresh seasonal fruit; pear, grapes, peach, (organic if you can get it).
-A quarter to a half a lemon, include a small amount of peel if you like, very good for
both the liver and gallbladder.
-Add a tablespoon of coconut, olive or peanut oil (cold pressed) for your skin and joints.
-A scoop of
Earth's Nutrition (blast every cell in your body with nutrient-rich organic vitamins and minerals to give you more energy than ever before).

-Put the above in a blender, liquefy and drink.

*Adjust the above to suit your taste and the amount you make.
Note:  Changes I made.  First I did not have fresh ginger and I used powder and it did fine and was easy to make.  Today I have purchased ginger fresh though.  Second I used what I had on hand and that was the Starwest Botanicals Green Power Blend which I added bee pollen to.  I am sure his choice of Earth's Nutrition is much better though.
I did use the coconut oil, a little more banana than 1 and I used almond milk.  The almond milk made it very thick in consistency and I had to eat it with a spoon.  I used cantaoupe and berries also.
I was very very happy with the smoothie and I think changing the fruits will help you not get bored with the same smoothie day in and day out for 20 years.  ENJOY!!

Chef Loses 100 Pounds Eating Pizza

Yes, that is right, he ate pizza and lost 100 pounds.  His name is Pasquale Cozzolino.  His job working at Pizza Arte caused him to go to a whopping 370 pounds from 254 when he first arrived in New York in 2011 from Italy.  He ate and he ate some more and loved to eat Oreos 10 to 12 at a time.

He would eventually move to Ribalta Pizzaria where he is the executive chef.  He got to where he could not breathe and knew he had to do something.  He had stomach problems, 3 ulcers and back problems.

His love for pizza caused him to create a diet Neapolitan Pizza.  This pizza was simple and only contained this slices of fresh mozzarella cheese and basil with a very simple tomato topping made with crushed San Marzano Tomatoes, not overly sugary like most tomatoes.

His pizza dough will ferment for 36 hours to naturally remove the sugar content and leave the healthier carb content.  It contains flour, water, a pinch of salt and yeast only.  For me when I made the dough I added in some loofah leaves, black cumin seeds (ground).  This makes it more healthier.  But Pasquale's pizza dough is very low in ingredients.  He also says you can buy this diet pizza dough at his restaurant located at  East Village pizzeria Ribalta (48 E. 12th St.; 212-777-7781).  He claims his pizza only has 600 calories too.

I am sure you can buy his famous diet pizza at his shop also.  Besides having the pizza for lunch he exercised, had an apple for snack before sleep and followed a typical Mediterranean diet.  He did top his pizza with some olive oil before eating.

You can change the toppings on the pizza. For me I love chopped Swiss Chard.

Delicious and Healthy Oatmeal with Nuts and Dried Fruits

I saw a new book was published, called How Not to Die.  On the promotion page, the man who wrote this book told of what he ate for breakfast.  He had oatmeal with so many good things in the oatmeal including cocoa.  I have to tell you, I did delete the cocoa, but tried many other ideals.  The oatmeal I came up with was spectacular.  It is a huge meal in itself.

I cut up small pieces of dates and dried apricots and added in some dried cranberries.  I then made up a nut mixture which included raw brown sugar, bee pollen and cinnamon.  I used a wide variety of nuts to include hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, and almonds.  The end result was both heartwarming and filling.  I topped the oatmeal off with some raw butter and Raw Honey.  Please note that you can change around the selections, such as the type of nuts and fruits added.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup of quick wholewheat oats
  • Pinch of salt
  • raw butter and honey for topping

Dried fruits:  dates, cranberries and apricots (any assortment will work here or just dates)
Nuts:  Any assortment of nuts will work.  I added in bee pollen, cinnamon and brown sugar.  Not a lot but enough to give the perfect flavor.

Note:  I cut up enough fruit and nut mixtures to last awhile, not just for one meal.  I stored them in glass jars and they are prepared to use on my next breakfast.

Directions:
  1. Oats are so simple to make and I like my oatmeal slightly runny, not thick and so I cook my oats just 40 seconds.
  2. Add filtered water to a saucepan with the salt.  Bring to boil and add in the oats.  Stir continuously and pour in a bowl quick.y.  Top with your fruits and nuts.  Mix well.
  3. Now add a dab of fresh butter, if available and then drizzled raw honey all over the top. Do not saturate your oats, but instead use it sparingly.  Do not mix the honey in the oats. Just let the butter melt and the honey meld together.

Starwest Botanicals Greenpower Blend - A wonderful Burst of Life

Chris Wark had on his website he was ordering some greens from a company PHresh Greens.  On his Face Book Page, a woman suggested Starwest Botanicals brand instead.  When comparing prices and ingredients, I was more convinced to buy the Starwest brand.  PHresh Greens cost $35 for 5 ounces and Starwest Green Power Blend cost $21.95 for 1 pound through Iherb.  That means the Starwest brand had 11 additional ounces.  The big kicker for me was Iherb would ship my order to Jordan via UPS.  UPS handles the customs and brings it direct to my door.

I was so thrilled with the ingredients that I ordered my mom some too.  With Iherb, you get free shipping when you purchase $20 or more.  So for my mom I added in some probiotics which were on sale for $1, some South Africa Shea Butter and some organic ginger and my total cost was $33.  What a steal.

Ingredients: Made with organic barley grass, organic wheat grass, organic spirulina, organic spinach, organic alfalfa leaf, organic kelp, organic dulse leaf, organic orange peel, organic barley grass juice, organic beet root, organic dandelion leaf, organic lemon peel, organic ginkgo leaf and organic wheat grass juice in vegetable capsules.

Remarkable Remedy to Reverse Clogged Veins in Only 5 Days

This recipe is similar to my "Stop Heart Attack Now Formula,"  This formula promises to open your veins in as short of time as 5 days and while I am willing to give this a try, I have to say I keep a jar of my Stop Heart Attack Now in my refrigerator at all times.

My mother who has constant angina and heart problems inspires me to write on this story.  A failed US diet will cause most to have heart disease and heart failure.  Around 5 years ago a Pakistan Doctor told her that her problems were two - 1. Weight and 2. Diet.  He had her to give up everything bad beginning with sugar and meat.  She went on a strict diet void of everything toxic in her diet and she lost 20 pounds and regained her health.

Lately she slacked back into the US diet due to financial problems. Why is it the poor is subjected to bad health due to lack of funds?  The truth is an organic diet is expensive.  It is a lot cheaper to buy sugary sweets, than to buy salad stuff with proper dressings and nuts.  This recipe to open your veins is quite cheap and inexpensive.  You only need to have the will power and a tiny bit of preparation.

Recipe:
  • 4 whole bulbs of garlic
  • 1 ginger foot ( 3 to 4 inches), peeled
  • 2 liters of water
  • 4 lemons with rind

Directions
  1. Wash the lemons and cut them into pieces. Peel the garlic and together with lemon and ginger blend them in a blender.
  2. Thus blended mixture, add in a metal bowl, pour two liters of water and heat all together by stirring until the boiling point. Immediately before the mixture boils turn off the heat and let everything cool down. Strain through a medium strainer dense and fill in glass bottles.
  3. Drink one glass every day for at least 2 hours before meals or on an empty stomach.
  4. The combination of lemon, water and cooking will neutralize the smell of garlic. Before each drink shake the bottle to get the lemon and garlic in the bottom mixed with the juice.

Entering the Hospital Under Anninomity and Using a Fake Name

Undercover operations and emergency treatments.  This subject is rarely ever talked about, but it is available for those of you in need.  It is not difficult to be entered into the hospital under a fake name.  Doctors across the country are trained to help those in real need and those who are in such fear of being murdered that they will refuse to be put asleep.

Talking to your doctor in confidence will help you accomplish this feat.  You have the right to meet and greet the anesthesiologist  and all doctors on staff.  You can request anninomity and all your records will reflect your fake name.

Does this sound like something in the movies?  Not really.  It happens often.  Whether you are on a witness protection program, hiding from a husband, or simply in fear of your life.  Is there such a thing as mafia hits, assassinations and more? Of course there is.

The reason I bring this very serious subject up is to let those know who watch in secrecy, never wanting their identity disclosed that even with cancer or a pelvic cleaning, you can have services in confidence.

I knew of a woman with such fear that she did not want to go to the hospital.  Her life was in constant danger.  She collapsed in the doctor's office because she had been poisoned.  The doctor told her to disgard every single medicine she had in her home and even her food. She ate out daily out of fear of being killed.  She needed a pelvic operation.

The doctor assured her that this could be done under anninomity  and she finally agreed.  Only staff known by the doctor was admitted to the operating room.

My friend told me of horrifying fear as she laid in the hospital alone.  No one could visit her, no one was there when she awoke from anesthesia and no one cared.

While I am sure this does not happen often, it does happen.  If you or someone you know have a similar problem and need services, confide in your doctor and seek out a hospital that can help.

Chia Seeds for Weight Loss

Can chia seeds (shea in Arabic) really curb your appetite and help you to lose weight?  Dr. Oz seems to think you can along with hundreds of others.  Chia seeds are full of fiber and good things and have zero sugar.  They also contain Omega 3s.  There is very little you could not ask for when taking these little seeds full of nutrition, fiber and balance.

Besides helping you to lose weight, they are also used to help you sleep, treat your cancer and cure colon disease. But be aware that these little seeds also have a down side.  2 tablespoons of chia seeds contain 139 calories, 9 grams of fat, 12grams of carbohydrates and a whopping 11 grams of fiber (a good thing).

According to Dr. Oz, Website, "Chia seeds are super high in soluble fiber which, in addition to filling you up, has cholesterol-lowering properties and prevents the absorption of fat. Try stirring two tablespoons of “whole” or “raw” chia seeds into a glass of water and wait a few minutes, drinking them down before the seeds absorb the water and get hard. It'll curb your mid-day cravings!"

Chia Seeds Block Fat Absorption and Enhance Sleep

Dr. Oz said "chia seeds have many health benefits, including aiding weight loss, making your hair strong and shiny, and aiding sleep.

Dr. Oz said chia seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which promote heart and brain health and relieves depression. They're also high in fiber, and contain magnesium, amino acids, and protein, so they suppress appetite and aid digestion."

According to Natural News

According to Natural News, " Also, one of the unique things about chia is its ability to soak up water. If you mix one part chia seeds with nine parts water, and leave it for about fifteen minutes, you`ll get a mixture with a gel like consistency. It has little taste, but plenty of nutrients. It also is very filling because of the amount of expansion. Furthermore, the chia gel slows down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the system, so you stay satisfied for longer, without peaks in blood sugar. Feeling full for longer, without peaks and lows in energy, will certainly lead to weight loss."

As an Added Note for Parasite Cleansing

One man wrote that he eliminated his tapeworms by adding in 1 teaspoon of chia seeds to a cup of yogurt.  He did this for a week and lost all his tapeworms.  Well, he can hope, right! Either way chia seeds are a good thing in my book.

Hot Ginger Balls for the Removal of Plaque from Teeth, Nausea, Poor Circulation and More

I saw a woman on curezone who claims she made these balls and the plaque from her teeth all came off.  I was fascinated to find out who Rosemary Gladstar was and found this book on Amazon.

I do not agree with her when she states that it is a relief for chemotherapy.  Ginger should never be combined with pharmaceutical drugs.  It has severe side effects. But for those who are not on any statins or pharmaceutical drugs, this is a great recipe and one I will try today.

Make sure to purchase her book: Medicinal Herbs

Ginger Medicinal Uses

Ginger contains a proteolytic enzyme that has been shown to reduce inflammation and help repair damaged joints and cartilage tissue; no wonder it’s been a longtime favorite for treating arthritis and joint pain. It improves circulation in the pelvis and is often a main ingredient in reproductive tonics for men and women and in formulas for menstrual cramps and PMS. Numerous studies confirm that ginger lowers blood-level triglycerides linked to diabetes and heart disease. And several clinical studies find ginger more effective than over-the-counter medications for nausea, motion sickness, and seasickness (something every herbalist knows). Clinical studies also show that ginger rivals antinausea drugs for chemotherapy, without their side effects. Its antiseptic properties make ginger highly effective for treating gastrointestinal infections, and it is used in formulas for food poisoning. It is a popular warming, decongesting herb used for cold-type imbalances such as poor circulation, colds and flus, respiratory congestion, and sore throat. All this and it’s delicious, too!

Hot Ginger Balls (a.k.a. Hot Balls)

  • 2 tablespoons gingerroot powder
  • 1–2 tablespoons carob or unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • Honey
To make the balls:

Combine the ginger, carob or cocoa powder, and cinnamon in a bowl, then mix in enough honey so that the mixture takes on the texture of bread dough. Add ½ teaspoon water, mix well, and knead for a few minutes. (Add more ginger powder or carob or cocoa powder to thicken if necessary.) Roll into pea-size balls. Let dry at room temperature or in a dehydrator, and store in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Kept in a cool, dark location, these little balls will keep for 3 to 4 weeks; they’ll keep even longer if stored in the refrigerator.

To use:

Take two or three balls as needed to calm an upset stomach. For motion- or seasickness, take two or three balls an hour before traveling, so they have a chance to start working, then take as needed.

Rosemary Gladstar is a renowned herbal teacher and practitioner with more than 35 years of experience working with herbs. She’s the author of Rosemary Gladstar’s Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health and Herbal Healing for Women, director of the International Herb Symposium and the annual Women’s Herbal Conference, cofounder of the Traditional Medicinal Tea Company (for which she formulated the original blends), and founding president of the nonprofit United Plant Savers.

Relaxing Creamy Turmeric Tea

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Emmy®-award winning chief medical correspondent for the Health, Medical & Wellness unit at CNN has a cup of tumeric tea before sleeping to relax him.  It is very healthy and wonderful to help you relax and sleep better.  Turmeric, however is a very valuable spice and has a lot more to it than just to help you relax.

Benefits of Turmeric:
  •  Abdominal Pain
  •  Anti inflammatory
  •  Antioxidant
  •  Anti bacterial
  •  Anti-venom
  •  Anti viral
 Additional Health Benefits:

Alzheimer's Disease

Today's news is that turmeric combined with Vitamin D3 offers help for Alzheimer's. Read: Vitamin D and curcumin combo offers brain health potential.

Curcumin is the main ingredient in Turmeric and Curry. Turmeric has been in the news since 2000, as a preventative for Alzheimer's and it has been recommended in large quantities to take to alleviate all symptoms. The problem is and the question of the day is how much is enough. As Curcumin is poorly absorbed, the patient must take large quantities so it stays in the system. Approximately 30-40 percent stays in the body and the rest is excreted through the urine. D3 should be at least 3 to 4 grams per day if not more, but best to have a D3 test beforehand. Most people are deficient. Recommendations of 2000-4000 mgs of curcumin is recommended.

Curcumin should be taken with a fatty meal, such as milk, cheese, plant or animal fat. I must suggest to start out slow and then progressively go higher. I suggest to start at 500-1000 mg per day. There are no documented problems with taking 2000mg, but there could be a problem with higher amounts, so it is better to take it slow. There have been some small trials that showed no adverse affects of up to 8000 mg per day.

One of the best ways to use curcumin in your diet is to put 3/4 cup of curcumin in a bowl and add in 1/4 cup of black pepper.  This will increase the strength of curcumin.  Then place the mixture in a salt or pepper shaker and sprinkle it generously on your food or even popcorn before serving.

Cancer Prevention

Clinical research has shown that curcumin has been able to slow the development of cancer cells. Curcumin has created cell suicide or Apoptosis as it is called. The main trials have been done on rodents and they are starting the trials on humans so it cannot be stated for sure, but it is indeed looking promising. Many have been taking curcumin for cancer prevention for years and it has shown great success. But after the trials are finished we can say for sure.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta's Turmeric Tea

Ingredients

1 cup almond milk
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon honey
1/4 teaspoon ginger

Directions

Bring the almond milk to a boil and remove from the stove.  Add in the spices and the honey and stir.  Sip slowly before sleep.

Energizing Strawberry Smoothie with Ginseng

We all get run down and have times when our energy is so low, even going to the mailbox is a big effort.  Sometimes energy problems are from being anemic and sometimes it has to do with a more serious disease like cancer. Cancer-related fatigue affects from 60-90% of patients and many cannot even eat balanced meals due to lack of appetite or simply from the treatments they are taking.

Did you know all the supplements in the world will not fix a bad diet?  Researchers state that there is nothing worse for an alternative cancer treatment then to have a bad diet.  The cancer diet is just as important as the treatment itself.  So whether you are low on energy due to lack of sleep or have cancer-related fatigue, this simple smoothie will energize you and give you lots of vitamins to help make your body strong.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek Style Yogurt (raw goat yogurt is great)
  • 2 frozen bananas (cut into chunks)
  • 3/4 cup of strawberries (sliced and frozen)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginseng powder

Directions

Place all the above in a heavy duty blender and blend on high.  For added power and energy, add in 1 tablespoon of freshly ground flax seeds or cold pressed whey powder.  Do not use whey isolate you find in the grocery store.  Dr. Mercola sells a wonderful cold pressed whey.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE the Nutri Bullet!!

I had not seen the infomercial when I purchased this. I was looking for a powerful smoothie maker after my smoothie blender died. The base is MUCH heavier/substantial and well made than the Magic Bullet.

It also looks more expensive/nice. I know this because I was at Target examining them both closely.

The 600 watts of power has been great to tear through kale, chard, frozen berries, almonds, chia seeds. I love the consistency of the smoothie when I am done. it is not a complete liquid, but really well blended.

I love that you keep the nutrition of the pulp. It is not like my first old juicer that left the pulp out of the juice, but also the nutrition. It was a NIGHTMARE to clean. Then I bought the smoothie blender that is now kaput! The Nutri Bullet literally rinses clean in ten seconds.

Obviously rinse it right after you are done using it. My daughter won't touch anything green and we put kale, chard, broccoli and fruit, berries to make it NOT green and she likes it.

Honestly we are NOT a family that likes kale, chard, broccoli, prunes, but feel so much better now that we are ingesting them. It took about two weeks for me to notice a difference and feel better. My husband and I have been having two a day and I have lost 4 lbs in 18 days without trying. They just keep you full and satisfied. It has taken the edge off my sweet tooth. They will keep you "regular."

I don't know why they don't just give you two large smoothie cups. We only use the big size. Do not fill past the max line with fruit or water. It will leak out of the seal and down into the blender and out the bottom. There is no way to clean out where the smoothie leaks through. We overcrammed it the first few times and learned our lesson. It doesn't "liquify" or make it as smooth as when you use less.

Also you save a fortune when buying greens and frozen fruit from the big box stores. The smoothie tastes SO much better really cold. Our first green smoothie was not a success because it was warm! I would recommend defrosting the frozen fruit just slightly. It just blends it up better. (I think part of the problem were the frozen strawberries.

They were huge and rock solid/hard to "liquify" completely.) We had such a big container of spinach/greens we ended up freezing it and it works/tastes great! My daughter complained it wasn't sweet enough, we tried honey, had to use too much, stevia, just didn't taste that great and then read about the health benefits of prunes.

We tried 2-3 per big smoothie, enough for two glasses and it is perfect. A little sweetness and no prune taste at all. We also purchased the almonds, chia seeds and prunes at a huge savings from the big box store.

I highly recommend this Nutri-Bullet. It takes me about two-three minutes to make a smoothie and clean up. (I blend it for about thirty seconds.) We are trying/experimenting with foods we would NEVER eat. The directions and nutrition booklets are great to read through for health/diet info.

I just love that this Bullet takes up less than half the space of my dead smoothie blender and 1/10 the space of my monster sized juicer that is going on Craigslist!

5.0 out of 5 stars So Thrilled - One week, down 9.5 lbs. May 8, 2012

Love to read reviews but rarely do I take the time to write them. From the moment I saw the NutriBullet on TV, I was on a mission to find one locally. Target $99, $105 included tax. Mine came with the Quick Start booklet, the User guide and Recipe booklet, as well as all the mixing/drinking cups, lids, rims, etc. One reviewer mentioned how eating salads was becoming monotonous/bunny food. Agree. Even though I dressed them up with tilapia, salmon, etc., it still just got old.

Now, on to my REVIEW: I started with the Phase I Toxin Cleansing Blast. I had one on Tuesday, May 1. OMGosh it was so good and was liquefied, no gritty bits, so no worries there. Day two, I had two of the same (Toxin Cleansing Blast) drinks.

Both nights I saturated my sheets with sweat (TMI?). I lost three pounds but chalked it up to water loss. The remaining of the week I have been drinking three NutriBlasts a day, alternating between the Vita-Berry and Nutty Nectar blasts as I have still not used up all of my spinach.

Today (Tuesday, May 8) has been one week and I am down 9.5 lbs. Still drinking water in between, but what is nice is besides all the nutrients via vegetables, fruits, etc., it is blended with water, so you get plenty of what your body needs and craves. Now, for you nay-sayers that will say "as soon as you start eating, the weight will come back on", you are probably right, and I plan to start incorporating food back into my plan.

Also, nowhere does the NutriBlast booklet tell you NOT to eat solid foods in week one or at anytime, but I don't feel hungry. NutriBlasts are very filling, maybe the aeration helps. The only other thing I do is add Flax Seed to my Blasts since I had a complimentary jar of it from GNC and didn't know what to do with it until I saw the recipe booklet.

I was going to wait a month to see if this purchase was worth posting a review, but I am so thrilled that if this continues I will add to my post in one month. My Doctor suggested I lose 20 lbs as menopause and weight gain had snuck up on me so I hope I have finally found something to help out with that.

The three flavored Blasts I mentioned above are delish. I have not tried Kale or Collard Greens yet as a base. Now that kind of scares me, but the spinach as a base is awesome.

Oh, and besides my excitement of weight loss....the NutriBullet is compact enought to sit on your counter. Has awesome power and looks so nice out of the box, you almost don't want to use it. However, it cleans right up with a good hot water rinsing and a paper towel dries it off nicely. I have not yet put mine in a dishwasher (so far, not necessary).

Hope this helps.

UPDATE June 12: A little late on my update. Busy with graduations, etc. Today I am down an additional eight lbs. I did go back on my salads, fish, broccoli/asparagus, etc. meals once a day. Still doing my nutriblasts at least once a day, maybe twice, depending on how hungry I feel.

Still using Flax seed in the Blasts. On to the Nutribullet itself....I absolutely love this item and for the price it can't be beat. Rarely do I use the Recipe book anymore. I toss in whatever fruits I have. Melon, grapes, pears, strawberries, apples, a banana (always)...whatever you have works. I am still using spinach as a base.

I may not be as adventurous as others, I have not made a pure veggie blast nor have I tried Kale or Collards. Anyway, all is good with my NutriBullet, no leaks, no problems whatsoever. For me, it does what is advertised.

Cherry Smoothie for Restful Sleep

According to Dr. Michael Breus, PhD, The Sleep Doctor cherries are great to help you rest due to the fact they have melatonin in them.  Melatonin is a sleep hormone which has been shown to reverse the signs of aging and bananans have loads of magnesium, a calming mineral. Dr. Breus does suggest soy milk and I have eliminated soy milk and substituted almond milk as it suppresses the immune system.  While the Dr. suggests soy milk is tryptophan, a sleep-inducing amino acid, it has more negatives than positives.  I have updated his recipe and added my own touches to help you have a more restful sleep. So the next time you are having sleep problems, whip some of this up and rest peacefully.

Tart Cherry and Banana Smoothie

Ingredients
  • 1 cup tart cherry juice (freshly squeezed is the best)
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 cup almond milk or 1/2 cup of yogurt of your choice (if using yogurt, add an additional 1/2 cup fat-free milk)
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions

Combine all the ingredients in a tall blender and blend until smooth.

Valuable Research

According to Natural News, "In a pilot study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, scientists from the University of Pennsylvania, University of Rochester and the V.A. Center of Canandaigua tested the effects of tart cherry juice on the sleep habits of 15 older adults. The research subjects drank 8 ounces of the beverage every morning and night for two weeks. Then, after a two week "wash out" period of no juice, the study participants were switched to another juice drink containing no cherry juice.

The results? During the weeks the study participants drank the cherry juice, there were significant reductions in reported insomnia severity when compared to the weeks when they were consuming the non-cherry juice drink. What's more, drinking the tart cherry juice appeared to help people sleep through the night better, without waking up.

In a statement to the media, the researchers noted that tart cherries' natural sleep-enhancing benefits could be the result of their relatively high content of melatonin -- a natural antioxidant that has been shown in previous research to help induce sleepiness at night and wakefulness during the day.

In addition to normalizing sleep, scientists are discovering other health benefits of tart cherries and tart cherry juice, too. For example, University of Michigan research published last year in the Journal of Medicinal Food, suggests tart cherries may help to control weight and to prevent metabolic syndrome, the cluster of symptoms including high blood pressure and high cholesterol that ups the risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

5 Ways to Boost Your Energy Quickly

Chronic fatigue is a problem of many and especially those who have Epstein Barr Syndrome.

Epstein Barr is a virus that in turn causes infectious mononucleosis (mono - the kissing disease). People who have Epstein Barr Virus are carriers of the virus which can lead to lymphoma and carcinoma cancers.

Epstein Barr Virus is also linked to being a lead cause of Multiple Sclerosis. In a study of 100 people with Multiple Sclerosis, one hundred percent of them had the Epstein Barr Virus.

One of the major symptoms of Epstein Barr is chronic fatigue (CFS).  You are exhausted after just a bit of working and for no reason at all you cannot seem to get your energy back.  People with Epstein Barr have poor absorbtion of vitamins and must get plenty of sleep. Even if you don't have Epstein Barr you may have energy problems.

An energy problem may be caused from lack of protein, such as a vegetarian or vegan or is not getting enough protein in their diet by eliminating meat or it may be just a general or short term problem due to any number of reasons.  Reasons for fatigue or lack of energy may include:
  •  Boredom
  • Poor sleeping habits
  • Overwork
  • Flu or the cold
  • Stress
  • Lack of exercise
  • Medicine side effects
  • Anemia
  • Heart Problems
  • Thyroid problems
  • Kidney and liver disease

According to WebMD, "Chronic fatigue syndrome is an uncommon cause of severe, persistent fatigue.  If fatigue occurs without an obvious cause, it is important to evaluate your mental health. Fatigue is a common symptom of mental health problems, such as anxiety or depression. Fatigue and depression may become so severe that you may consider suicide as a way to end your pain. If you think your fatigue may be caused by a mental health problem, see your doctor.

It is a stress-reducing supplement which contains two B vitamins, folate and vitamin B12, which help relieve and prevent emotional and physical  distress. Dosage requirements are to take two capsules in the morning and afternoon.

5.   Meditation, Exercise and Breathing Correctly.  Nothing removes stress more than meditation, exercise and breathing correctly, such as taking deep breaths and letting the air out slowly. The best exercise for stress is walking and/or rebounding on a rebounder or mini-trampoline.

Meditation has been shown to be highly beneficial with as little as 20 minutes a day.  Reflecting of your surroundings, on the creations from God and your Creator will cause you to appreciate life, understand your purpose and realize that there is much to be thankful for.

Dr. Oz is a big believer in meditation, as I am.  When anger comes, it is could to take a nice hot shower and relax.  I find it is better to block, delete and walk away rather than to react.

Dr. Oz Pea Protein Power Shake

Buy Me Now
What is all the buzz about Pea Protein? Recently I have been hearing that pea protein is the best way to get energized, daaa, I don't think so, but I am interested.  Is this the latest fad or is there something to this pea protein generation.

According to Dr. Oz

"This delicious breakfast shake's secret ingredient is yellow pea powder. This protein-rich powder is the perfect way to stop hunger cravings. High-protein foods trigger the hormones that satiate you. And this shake is the best way to incorporate pea protein powder into a healthy, low-calorie snack."

Here is his suggestion: (boring - boring)

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp pea protein powder
  • 1 cup fruit of your choice
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 5 ice cubes
  •
Directions
Mix in a blender until desired consistency is reached and enjoy!

Buy Me - Oster Blender
Is this the real way to get the most out of Pea Protein and a healthy and delicious smoothie?  First there are many pea proteins available which are listed at the bottom of this article and yes I hope you buy them all. lol
But the recipe is bland and we do need to spice it up some. The healthiest way to enjoy any smoothie is with some almond milk and so for me I will substitute the low-fat milk with a healthier almond milk.  I would also like to add in a bit of raw honey for better taste.  Now we are getting somewhere.

The other thing I would do is add in either frozen fruit, not just fruit of your choice and the fruits must include bananas or cantaloupes for smoothness.  Then you must add in some more frozen fruit to liven up the flavors, such as peaches or mangoes and now we have a healthier and more delicious shake.

Now if you want to go green, then add in some spinach or kale.  For those who eat eggs, add in one raw egg too.

So for my perfect green smoothie with pea protein
  • 2 tablespoons of pea protein powder
  • 1 cup of spinach or kale
  • 1 raw egg
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 frozen pear
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive leaf powder (optional)
Directions: Blend the lot.

Ok, Doctor Oz don't be offended if I spiced up your very boring smoothie.

Natural Ways to Grow Hair and Reduce Hair Loss

Hair Loss may occur with age and is a natural part of life. There are things that will cause alopecia (hair loss) prematurely though.  You may have problems with circulation, genes, hormones, vitamin deficiencies or drugs you are taking.  Some hair treatments and coloring dyes may also cause hair loss. Make sure to read the ingredients on all perm and hair color boxes.

Reduce Hair Loss with Herbs

Some herbs that will help grow your hair and reduce hair loss are thyme, lavender and rosemary.   You can make an herb tea with these herbs by simply boiling some water and removing the water from the fire. Then add the herbs on top and allow to steep for 20 minutes.  You can buy essential oils also and take the oils as directed or massaged directly into the hair after shampooing.

Other herbs known to help with hair growth are: morninga, dong quai, sage, fenugreek, black willow, pine needle, horsetail, yucca root and stinging nettles.

Natural Way to Grow Hair with Black Strap Molasses

Place one cup of warm water together with 1 large tablespoon of black molasses and mix well.  Massage all over the hair including the roots and leave on 1/2 hour.  Rinse your hair well and shampoo as normal.

Vitamins and Supplements to Prevent Hair Loss

Vitamin E prevent hair loss along with the B vitamins.  Vitamin E promotes circulation and opens up veins for further growth.  To use vitamin E, simply open up the capsules of oil and massage into the scalp.

B vitamins are very important for hair growth because they reduce stress. The best way to take B vitamins are in a complex form, but take one with enough strength. Some complex vitamins have less than desirable amounts.  Inositol and PABA (Para-Aminobenzoic Acid) are important B vitamins. If you are using Brewer's Yeast then grind up the tablets and soak in juice overnight.

Foods that contain B vitamins are: beans, peas, carrots, cauliflower, yeast, bran, nuts and eggs.

Vitamin C is also needed for hair growth and to prevent balding. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant and helps hair growth. You wil need to take 2000 mg per day in divided doses.  Vitamin C is also found in fruits:  limes, lemons, grapefruits and oranges.

Other supplements that will help with thinning hair are: Omega Fatty Acids, Lysine, Vitamin D and A, resveratrol, silica, morniga and cayenne.  Caution -- excessive vitamin A can cause hair loss.

Essential Oils for Hair Loss

There are several essential oils that you can use for hair loss.  They include:
  • Bay
  • Cedarwood
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Lemon
  • Rosemary
  • Chamomile
Add two drops of the essential oil to your rinse water or a good vegetable oil.  Massage your scalp good and then cover your head with a towel. Wait two to three hours or more and then shampoo your hair as normal. Make sure not to use a medicated shampoo.

Herbal Remedies that Work

Needless to say you will find many articles full of remedies that they "CLAIM" to work.  I myself would always mention black cumin first.  I wrote an article containing 10 remedies that work and many have testimonies.  Read: Baldness and Hair Loss Natural Remedies with Black Cumin.

Here are some other remedies that may work also:

1.  Fenugreek Shampoo.  Soak a handful of fenugreek seeds (very hard) in water over night and then blend in a blender.  Strain and shampoo your hair with the water.

2.  Coconut Massage.  Take some fresh coconut and the water and blend to get a coconut milk and massage on the scalp.

3.  Mustard Oil and Henna Leaves.  Boil one cup of mustard oil with 4 tablespoons of henna leaves.  Filter and place in a glass container.  Massage this on the scalp regularly.

4.  Rubbing with Onion.  Rub your scalp with onion till it is red.  After rubbing your scalp vigourously, add some honey.  I suggest using Manuka honey or a very good raw honey.

5.  Amla Oil.  Try boiling pieces of amla in some coconut oil.  Mix equal parts of this with lime juice and then shampoo your hair with this mixture.

Diet for Hair Loss

Healthy hair comes from healthy diet and oils.  You should not eat sugar, meat, white enriched flour. Eat foods such as seeds, nuts, grains, organic fruits, liver, eggs, kidney, herring, salmon, carrots and green leafy vegetables.
